About the Aviation HaulerAviationhauler is a specially modified cargo trailer designed for transporting Light Sport Aircraft, Ultralights, Trikes, Powered Parachutes or any airplane that folds to a total width of 8 feet.Trailers are typically a 24 foot steel box style cargo trailer with a 5 foot V Nose for additional storage space and aerodynamic travel on the road. Specifications and styles vary according to your requirements but each trailer has an outside width of 102 inches and an inside width of 98 inches. The rear door is modified to a width of 98 inches and the height is at least 78 inches in most designs. These modifications normally allow a plane that folds up to 8 feet in width, 22 feet in length and 72 inches in height to easily fit into the cargo bay. The trailer we use for hauling our Highlander Aircraft, and LSA kit by Just Aircraft that I built, is a basic configuration but there is a long list of available options such as Sky Lights, interior cabinets, windows, additional lighting, side doors on both sides and many more options. Our Highlander takes about 40 minutes to fold the wings, secure the struts and load into the trailer. We use a small winch to pull our taildragger in tail wheel first. The plane goes into the bay until the mains hit the wheel wells. This insures the weight is distributed for ease of hauling down the road. We installed tie downs at various locations to insure the plane does not move while traveling. Foam padding on the side walls offer insurance that if there is some slight movement no damage to our folded wing spars should occur. Call us for more details, pricing or pictures of the trailer or our aircraft. Be sure to visit BLBFlight.com for more information on the Highlander and the Escapade LSA. |

![]() Our Highlander, N728BB, is neatly tucked away and ready for travel in our Aviationhauler Trailer. It takes about 40 minutes for us to fold the wings on our Highlander, secure all loose materials, pull the plane into the trailer bay, tie down the tail wheel, ratchet down the struts, pack in a few extra fuel cans and we are ready for the road! ![]() Here is a shot of the Highlander from the side entry door. The Aviationhauler's main box is 24 feet long with a 5 foot Vee nose for extra storage space and aerodynamic travel down the road. The large Vee nose assists in stability and fuel economy. |
